miniSAAG: The Studio Sessions

Ages 6 to 10
Fridays, January 12 to June 22 | 1PM to 4PM
$275 per semester | $220 for members
Drop in: $25 | $23 for members

 

Come create with us in this newly reimagined program (formerly Art Club). Join our Educator Emily Promise Allison for miniSAAG: The Studio Sessionsand dive into afternoons full of mirth and mischief as we explore endless possibilities in the magic playroom of the Education Studio. Friends and family are welcome to our final installation for treats and fun conversations with the artists on Friday, June 22 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Sessions continue in September for the fall semester.

 

Camp Imaginarium
Ages 6 to 8
July 9 to 13 | 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
$150 per week | $110 for members

 

Immerse yourself in a world of imagination during this dynamic five-day camp. Come and explore a vast array of creative techniques in a positive environment designed to enhance a young artist's life skills through experimentation in sculpture, sound art, physical literacy, drawing, creative storytelling, installation art, freestyle movement, painting, and photography. Friends and family are invited to enjoy juice, treats, and music to celebrate the artist’s final exhibition on Friday afternoon from 4 PM to 4:30 PM.

 

Camp Maverick
Ages 9 to 11
July 16 to 20 | 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
$150 per week | $110 for members

 

Inspired by creative freedom and adventures in experimentation of artistic techniques, Camp Maverickis designed to challenge young minds through art and build confidence to embrace individuality of themselves and of others. This five-day camp is devoted to stimulating and cultivating self-expression through fostering the development of new ideas, as well as working as a group to make those ideas come to life by transforming the Education Studio into a grand stage where the spotlight focuses on pushing artistic boundaries and combining concepts and materials. Be prepared to make history. Mediums to be explored include sculpture, sound art, installation art, performance art, painting, drawing, and photography. Friends and family are invited to enjoy juice, treats, and music to celebrate the artist's final exhibition on Friday afternoon from 4 PM to 4:30 PM.

 

Film Frontier
With guest teacher Joe Kelly
Ages 9 to 11
August 13 to 16 | 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
$150 per week | $110 for members

 

Are you fascinated by moving images? Have you ever wondered what it takes to make a movie? Join us for this intensive four-day camp where we will experience the ultimate backstage pass into the enchanting world of film and digital video. Participants will learn about filming technique, editing, animation of storyline, camera work and equipment, composition of an original soundtrack, and narrative concepts with special guest teacher and professional video artist, Joe Kelly. Be prepared to experiment and explore! Friends and family are invited to attend Film Frontier'sworld premiere of short cinematic works on Thursday afternoon. The popcorn will be popping!


Joe Kelly is a seasoned filmmaker, videographer, editor and media artist who lives and works in Calgary, Alberta. He studied film and video at the Quickdraw Animation Society and the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers. Joe was Artist in Residence at the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers attended two thematic residencies at the Banff Centre for the Arts and has made a number of films that have been screened and awarded internationally – many of which were filmed using super 8, 16 and 35mm formats.

 

Coulees & Culture
Ages 6 to 10
August 13 to 17 | 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
$120 per week

 

Campers will discover the cultural, historical, and natural treasures of Lethbridge as they spend a day with: Galt Museum & Archives, Helen Schuler Nature Centre, New West Theatre, and the Southern Alberta Art Gallery.
