Reflecting on Place: Galleries, Museums and Community

February 12, 06:30pm - 08:00pm

A discussion of the role that the Whyte Museum – as a gallery, museum, archive and library – is playing in placemaking in a changing Bow River Valley.

Vincent Varga is passionate about the value of the experience of art, culture, and heritage and about the positive impact galleries and museums have on fostering vigorous communities of creative practice, contributing to healthy communities through life-long learning, playing a role in economic development in our communities, and ultimately, improving our quality of life. Over his 37-year career, he has served in curatorial and leadership capacities at institutions including the Glenbow Museum, Art Gallery of Windsor, Site Santa Fe, Edmonton Art Gallery, Michael Canadian Art Collection, and the Mendel Art Gallery. He is currently the Museum Director at the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies.
