Various Local Children   Art's Alive and Well in the Schools

May 1, 1994 - May 29, 1994

Organized by the southern Alberta art gallery in cooperation with Lethbridge school district #51 and Lethbridge catholic school district #9, with funding assistance from the school districts and the Alberta foundation for the arts

Since opening in 1976, the southern Alberta art gallery has made a tradition of exhibiting the work Lethbridge’s youngest artists every spring. The importance of this exhibition to both the gallery's mandate and to the visual art programs in the Lethbridge schools is immeasurable. Through special tours, programs and activities designed by the education team, the gallery is given the opportunity to reach its youngest public, and to increase their understanding of the value of art to society in general and the role of the gallery in the community in particular. For students, it offers a chance to view their own work, and that or their peers, in a professional setting within the context of the gallery's regular exhibition program.
