Marlene Creates   Landworks: 1979 - 1911

October 23, 1993 - November 24, 1993

Curator: Joan Stebbins
Organized and circulated by the Art Gallery of Memorial University, Newfoundland.

Marlene Creates was one of the first Canadian artists to work with the landscape in a very direct, yet respectful and non-exploitative manner, akin to such artists as Hamish Fulton and Richard Long. Through two-dimensional photo-based pieces, three-dimensional works and large new assemblages, this exhibition shows her conceptual development over the past twelve years. Her clear and elegant work speaks eloquently of the fragile and shifting relationships between humans and nature.
