Eric Cameron   Squareness

September 11, 1993 - October 17, 1993

Curator: Joan Stebbins
Organized by the Southern Alberta Art Gallery with funding assistance from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and The Canada Council.

For fourteen years, the last seven of which have been spent in Calgary, Eric Cameron has been working on a series of Thick Paintings, essentially various objects enshrouded in daily applications of white gesso. These works are constantly evolving, and were last exhibited in 1990 at the National Gallery and the Winnipeg Art Gallery. SAAG exhibits these works in their final manifestation, in the context of an exhibition which integrates several aspects of Cameron’s production of the past thirty years, including video works and the “process” paintings of the 60s and 70s.
