Mindy Yan Miller’s work addresses issues of memory, loss, recovery, desire and embodiment. Her installations have often incorporated used clothing, although she has utilized a range of other materials to reference the body – human hair, depleted Coca Cola cans, and video projections. The works documented in this publication maintain a sense of history, myth, and experience. The eight Plexiglas chandeliers of Crown picture a world of feminine rapture. They are bodiless, transparent and ecstatic. Freed from the vicissitude of carnality, these slowly spinning figures lift their open hands in a cool embrace of spirit and cosmology.
